A FEAST FOR THE EYES! Joint Venture is an absolutely "must see" in Charleston! I really don't know of another store like it anywhere! It's a good-sized store and everything is on consignment. Therefore, there are old victorian pieces, modern-day pieces, all mixed together. However, things brought in for consignment seem to be "screened out" as there is a welcome absence of "mall jewelry". They always have a good-sized selection of "important" a/k/a large diamonds (I've seen some over 6 carats), and fine and rare wristwatches (Rolex, Cartier, Baume & Mercier, etc.) Now, from what I've just written, you might get the impression that everything there is expensive...Not true! There's pretty much something for every price range. Perhaps the most special thing about Joint Venture is the staff. It's a family-run business and no one's on commission, so you don't get that "buy something or leave" attitude so many stores have. They will take the time to explain all about the various stones and what to look for. It's a very relaxed atmosphere. My "personal shopper" is Sherry, and at this point she knows my taste like the back of her hand. We've even worked on custom pieces together (Yes, they do that, too!)...It's truly like no other jewelry store around. I live on Hilton Head Island (about 100 miles away) and I still wouldn't think of buying jewelry any place else! You have GOT to go there when you visit Charleston!!!

My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, just as they were closing up shop. My husband had seen a cameo he wanted to buy me for our anniversary -- even though we hadn't planned on such a purchase. They stayed open for us, were friendly, helpful and charming -- and, indeed, the cameo was worth the impulseness. An all-together wonderful experience. Their selection is unique, lovely and quite stunning.
