East Andrews Neighborhood Bar
(Nightlife - Bars)
56 E Andrews Dr West Village, Atlanta  30305 • 404-869-1132
Description: BUCKHEAD. This Euro-inspired cafe-bar serves up gourmet-caliber tapas, fine wines and signature martinis. The place sports a touch of European charm, and live acoustic acts provide patrons with a cool soundtrack while supping and sipping. On nice evenings, many folks opt for tables outside since the lovely, ivy-covered patio seems worlds away from the Buckhead bustle. If a more fast-paced setting is your thing, check out Andrews Upstairs, an intimate performance venue whose weekly slate includes everything from rowdy "hair bands" to terrific stand-up comedians. NB Cover charges apply only to Upstairs.

Euclid Avenue Yacht Club
(Nightlife - Bars)
1136 Euclid Ave NE, Atlanta  30307-1939 • 404-688-2582
Description: LITTLE FIVE POINTS. Sometimes overshadowed by Atlanta's other night scenes, Little Five Points has much to offer. Take the popular Euclid Avenue Yacht Club, which promotes itself as the "most exclusive yacht club in Atlanta." Indeed, everybody from Hog-riding bikers to members of the local hard-rock and Dead Head scenes to the occasional Virginia Highlands refugees hang out at this offbeat joint. Nautical decor and colorful personalities notwithstanding, the Yacht Club serves up potent cocktails and just about any domestic brew you can imagine. Best of all, there's no cover.

Fuzzy's Place
(Nightlife - Bars)
2015 N Druid Hills Rd NE, Atlanta  30329-1808 • 404-321-6166
Description: NORTH DRUID HILLS ROAD. On Atlanta's northside, few places can compete with Fuzzy's as far as live music goes. An Atlanta staple for more than two decades, this cozy bar features live local and national blues acts in a Big Easy-style environment that includes rustic wood paneling and all your standard beer company odds and ends. Most nights, Fuzzy's televisions are tuned to whatever big game or popular show is on – majority rules, you know? Best of all, you can always count on the place slinging some of the best-priced beer in town. Chef Joe Dale, a local legend, serves up some of the meanest Cajun food north of Louisiana too, including blackened tilapia, crayfish etouffee, and jambalaya.

Manuel's Tavern
(Nightlife - Bars)
602 N Highland Ave, Atlanta  30307 • 404-525-3447
Description: PONCEY-HIGHLAND. Somewhere in between Va-Hi and Little Five Points, cozy Manuel's stands as the stately grandfather of Atlanta's nightlife scene. The bar the "New York Times" once referred to as "Atlanta's quintessential neighborhood bar" dates back to the mid-50s, when Manuel Maloof opened the place to serve sandwiches and suds to the neighborhood crowd. Today, the joint serves as a city archives of sorts, with its Coca-Cola mural, classic Braves pennants, and old beer cans. Sunday nights feature Manuel's popular trivia contests, which tend to get fairly competitive, and the Laughing Matters comedy troupe leaves patrons in stitches the first Saturday of each month.

Moe's & Joe's
(Nightlife - Bars)
1033 N Highland Ave NE, Atlanta  30306-3550 • 404-873-6090
Description: VIRGINIA HIGHLAND. A Virginia Highlands favorite, this retro dive has been serving up great pub grub and cold brews to neighborhood folks since the late 40s, becoming a sort of local historic site along the way. Crusty Braves pennants date back to the days when guys like Matthews and Aaron patrolled the field. Check out the old timey phone booth, antique cash register, and the classic PBR and other beer-related paraphernalia – hey, somebody has to collect that stuff! Saddle up to one of the old vinyl bar stools, order something fried and a tall pitcher of beer, and just let the scene take over. You'll quickly start to think of Moe's & Joe's as a second home.

Northside Tavern
(Nightlife - Bars)
1058 Howell Mill Rd NW, Atlanta  30318 • 404-874-8745
Description: WESTSIDE. A fun Westside beer joint, this one is a little out of the way, but that doesn't deter the regulars who hang out there. Decidedly casual, anything goes as far as attire. But if you are downtown sightseeing or having a meal, it's an entertaining place to head afterwards. The schedule is full of live shows, which range from great to less-than-great. Pool tables and homestyle grub round out this laid-back nightspot's offerings.

Description: MIDTOWN. You'll love this SOB – that's Smith's Olde Bar, of course. Though DJ dance parties are common, you'll also frequently find live music presented on the circular stage. Special songwriters' nights often showcase up-and-coming talents on the cabaret-style stage. If you aren't in the mood to dance or if the live show isn't your style, head downstairs for free jazz, or get into a game of pool. The relaxed vibe and broad array of entertainment options make this venue a favorite.

Star Community Bar
(Nightlife - Bars)
437 Moreland Ave, Atlanta  30307 • 404-681-5740
Description: LITTLE FIVE POINTS. From the hokey Elvis shrine across from the main stage to the retro-style Little Vinyl Lounge, this Little Five Points classic is 100% rock-n-roll. Fun bands, loud music, and cheap beer are hot commodities at the Star, and it's not uncommon to find a few yuppies interspersed among the more rustic regulars. If you feel like taking a break from the deafening Southern rock or blues acts onstage, head downstairs to the seedy LVL, a self-described "bucket of sin with a stain-resistant skin," where the scene is laid back and the jukebox is the stuff of legends.
