Description:
Augusta's only standing historical theater, the Imperial was the place to be in the early 1900's when bawdy vaudeville acts graced the stage and silent movies were all the rage. Charlie Chaplin once visited during a push to sell war bonds. Then came talkies, and today the Imperial has been refurbished and is now the venue for live stage performances and is home to the Augusta Opera and Augusta Ballet. |

1301 Greene St, Augusta 30901 706-826-4700 |
 |
| |
Description:
An angel in the late 1970s saved this gorgeous Roman Catholic church, which is an example of European inspired architecture. Originally consecrated in 1901, the twin spires of earth red brick are a contrast to creamy white marble columns and jewel-toned, stained glass windows. Today, Sacred Heart Cultural Center is the venue for chamber concerts, special private occasions, and fashion shows benefiting the community. A gift shop in the lower level sells works by local painters and writers.
