This is quite a historic site and is renowned for its tales of violence. Boothill Cemetery is also near the site where a group of Blackfeet Indians ambushed fur traders in 1823. The cemetery itself is where military scout Muggins Taylor is buried. Taylor is famous for making the journey to announce Custer's fall at Little Bighorn. June 25, 1876 is the date General Custer fell. The U.S. Army Seventh Cavalry was pitted against the forces of the Arapaho, Cheyenne, and Lakota Sioux Indian and this is the site of the historical event. The park has displays of artifacts and a museum. |

Description:
This national landmark is the lone surviving physical evidence of Lewis and Clark's Expedition. On July 25 1806, Clark scaled this massive sandstone butte and carved his name and the date on the northern side. Clark named the rock "Pomos Tower" after Sacajawea's son. The spot would later serve as a landmark for traders and military excursions and is the site of an annual celebratory event of Clark's visit here. 28 miles east of Billings. |
