FOLLY ISLAND. Located on the west end of Folly Island. Turn right at the Ashley Avenue stoplight and drive to the end of the road. MC CLELLANVILLE. Hampton Plantation Park and Mansion, circa 1735, is located 16 miles south of Georgetown. Home to Archibald Rutledge, author and state poet laureate, the plantation was built by the Huguenots and visited by George Washington in 1791. Picnic area available.

JAMES ISLAND. This 643-acre park offers a full-service campground as well as 10 modern vacation cabins overlooking the Stono River marsh. For additional fees, you can enjoy other activities, including Splash Zone water park and a 50-foot climbing wall which can accommodate 12-15 climbers at a time. Bike rentals are available, as well as a crabbing dock and unrestricted fishing. The park hosts several major festivals throughout the year, such as the Lowcountry Cajun Festival in April. Educational programs for various ages include Challenge Course, turtle walks, and tidal creek exploring. |
