CITY ISLAND. There is something for everyone at this island park in the Susquehanna River, including the minor league Senators ballfield. An eighteen-hole miniature golf course will challenge even the most avid of golfers, and batting cages will help baseball fans perfect their swing. Relaxing rides along the river in a paddlewheel riverboat are also available. The list of activities is seemingly endless, including the City Island Beach, various water sports, the City Island Railroad and Carousel, and the Skyline Sports Complex. Times and fees for select activities vary. |

Description:
Fort Hunter encompasses a forty-acre park and plantation home first settled in the early 1700s. The park, which is set upon the banks of the Susquehanna River, has several picnic areas, as well as the Centennial Barn, which can accommodate up to 150 people. There are several walking paths, as well as access to the Pennsylvania Canal Trail. The plantation gives visitors a glimpse into what sophisticated country living was during this period in time. Additional buildings – an icehouse, tavern, springhouse, and blacksmith shop – are located throughout the park. |

Description:
DOWNTOWN HARRISBURG. Located in the heart of the city, Italian Lake is a wonderful place to enjoy a picnic lunch. This small lake is surrounded by a picturesque green area and is spanned by an authentic-looking Italian bridge. The sculpture in the middle of the lake is called "The Dance of Eternal Spring." A summer concert series brings an assortment of music – from big band to classical to show tunes – to the park in July and August. |
