Description:
Denver March Powwow showcases the rich Native American traditions and cultures that are prevalent throughout the West and beyond. Over 700 dancers and musicians from 80 tribes participate in the event. Although the Grand Entry and performances like the Women's Jingle Dress Dance and Men's Traditional Dance are most popular, the festival also presents storytelling, drumming, traditional foods, and arts and crafts. |

Description:

Established in 1987, this festival unites the city with a colorful fiesta commemorating Mexican victory at the Battle of Puebla. Having grown into the largest Cinco de Mayo event in the nation, the festival draws nearly half a million people to Civic Center Park for dancing, crafts, music, and traditional Mexican food. The Celebrate Culture parade wends its way through downtown to commence the weekend-long event. |

Every June historic Larimer Square shuts down to vehicle traffic to become a colorful Italian piazza, transformed by the work of professional, amateur and student artists who skillfully create chalk masterpieces on the city street. Theevent includes hand-made gelato and a wine-tasting tent, but the real fun is watching the artwork being created. It's a family-friendly event that goes on into the evening with special dinners held at some of the local restaurants. |

For eight summer weekends, you and the kids can travel back in time, just by driving about a half hour south of Denver.
