Description:
Occupying an historic building in Fresno's downtown, this acclaimed museum is the incarnation of concerted efforts by city figures to heighten the cultural life of Central California. Permanent exhibits pay tribute to native son and Armenian-American writer William Saroyan, focus on antique puzzles, and display Chinese snuff bottles. Traveling exhibits address such topics as animation in film, the works of artist Edward Hopper, fashion, and Russian imperial art. The museum also houses an interactive science and arts center for kids of all ages. |

Description:
First instituted in 1890, the Legion of Valor pays tribute to military personnel who were honored for bravery and heroism in the highest degree. Members represent many of the United States' most trying conflicts. Their donated papers, photos, uniforms, artifacts, and citations detail a history of self-sacrifice and evoke both a somberness and a patriotic pride. The museum can be found within the stately Fresno Veterans Memorial Auditorium; a gift shop is available for souvenirs. |
