John Chapman, aka Johnny Appleseed, wandered the Indiana frontier planting orchards that would later earn him his nickname as well as legendary status among settlers. He is now buried in Fort Wayne, and this September festival celebrates his life with re-enactments, period costumes, musical presentations, and, of course, tons of food. The event raises money for several area non-profit groups. |

This annual festival (held Nov-Dec) features more than 100 trees decorated by regional artists on display at the Embassy Theater. Each tree is for sale, and the proceeds benefit the renovation of the historic Embassy, which presents performances such as dances, concerts, lectures, and theater productions throughout the year. In addition to the trees, this festival features elaborate window displays, animated exhibits, and a theater performance. |
