Description:
With its long stretch of shimmering beach and gusty Gulf breezes, Long Beach is the perfect setting for a kite-flying celebration. The Kite Fest is a great way to learn about this peaceful pursuit, with master kite-flyers showing off their techniques and participating in a competition and a "kite ballet." Kids can make their own kites and participate in the Kid's Kite Run and Candy Drop. Lots of food and beverage vendors and a spectacular mass ascension make this a fun event for the whole family. |

Description:
For years, the citizens of the Gulf Coast have relied on a successful fishing season for their economic well-being, and for their very survival. Just like they have for decades, the townspeople gather at the beginning of each spring for the Blessing of the Fleet. A huge parade is held on the water, and the bishop from a local church blesses each ship. The entire fleet gets decked out in hopes of winning the prize for best-decorated watercraft. The event is capped with the crowning of the festival King and Queen, lots of food and activities, and a variety of musical entertainment. The Fais Do-Do or street festival is on Saturday and the Blessing of the Fleet is on Sunday. |

The seafood industry has played a key role in the economic and cultural development of the Gulf Coast region, and this festival pulls out all the stops in celebrating that heritage. The plaza is filled with food booths serving up local favorites like shrimp, jambalaya, crawfish and gumbo. After you've had your fill, enjoy the sounds of big-name bands and local favorites on the stages set up throughout the area. Great jazz and reggae music has become a much-anticipated part of the festival, as has the competitive fishing rodeo. |

One of the Gulf Coast's top events, Cruisin' has grown every year to become one of the 10 largest classic car shows in the country. Thousands of cars participate, and more than 100,000 spectators come out to watch the spectacle. Several locations throughout the area offer music, food and drinks, drag races, kids' activities, an auto auction and plenty of classic cars on display. |

The entire town of Pass Christian comes alive each year at Christmas. During this nostalgic celebration, loved by locals and visitors alike, they are treated to an event-filled day of old-fashioned hospitality, colorful decorations, art displays, open houses at downtown businesses, and a fantastic holiday parade. Everyone gets into the act, with fisherman decorating their boats with lights and holding their own coastal parade. Bands and strolling carolers provide continuous entertainment, and there are plenty of festive foods and drinks to sample. It's impossible not to get into the spirit during Christmas in the Pass. |
