MIRAMAR BEACH. Fine dining can also be about fun, as this upscale restaurant shows. Gas torches light the entrance, and the dim dining room is a study in wood, stone, and zebra prints. Each table has its own DVD screen and coffeemaker, and an open pit grill holds court in the dining area, showcasing the Certified Angus beef that everyone relishes. Steak fondue is the house specialty, but numerous cuts of beef are available, along with lamb chops, rotisserie chicken, and lobster. The mixed grill, combining steak, lamb and Italian sausage, is a crowd-pleaser too, along with the wok-tossed pasta. A huge list of domestic and international beers assures a complement to any dish. |

FORT WALTON BEACH. The most striking aspect of this family-owned steak house is the ship's hull incorporated into the structure. It draws immediate attention, although the cuisine steps in to maintain that hold. Famous for tender steaks and ocean-fresh seafood, the restaurant is a local haunt that welcomes visitors as well. Prime rib is a favorite, but other cuts are just as flavorful, and the chicken and veal are succulent, too. Pastas are available, and the desserts are always homemade. An extensive international wine list makes terrific dinners even better, and a lounge offering live entertainment and dancing is the perfect way to top off the night. |
