801 Franklin
(Restaurants - American)
801 Franklin St, Huntsville  35801 • 866-519-8019
Description: HUNTSVILLE. This is one of Huntsville's favorite restaurants, thanks to the most extensive wine list in the city and a seasonally changing menu that showcases fresh, local ingredients. Start your dinner with creamy hummus served on homemade lavash crisps or some fresh Prince Edward Island mussels steamed in wine and broth. Innovative entrees include hash made with succulent beef tenderloin and organic Maine salmon, lightly grilled and served with steamed vegetables. Vegetarians will adore the four-cheese risotto. The molten chocolate cake is the house dessert specialty.

Baumhower's Wings Restaurant
(Restaurants - American)
4250 Balmoral Dr SW, Huntsville  35801 • 256-881-8878
Description: HUNTSVILLE. Eleven sauces and five levels of spiciness – that is how the wings are served at this sports restaurant-bar owned by Bob Baumhower, an All-American from the University of Alabama and 6 time All-Pro for the Miami Dolphins. The moist and juicy wings can be ordered mild to fiery, in flavors ranging from curry to Jamaican jerk. There are more upscale items on the menu as well. The LA grouper – that's Lower Alabama, not Los Angeles – is excellent and comes with a side of spicy black beans and rice. The rib eye steak also wins kudos from the locals. After you order, take a minute to examine the sports memorabilia decorating the walls. Or just sit back and watch a game on the closest television. Roll Tide!

Covington's Downtowne
(Restaurants - American)
501A Church St, Huntsville  35801 • 256-533-1088
Description: HUNTSVILLE. Covington's is a bit difficult to find – the sign is very small – but the food is worth the search. This self-described "luncheon café" specializes in fresh soups and salads. The broccoli-cheese soup is a daily fixture, but other soups change according to the season. All are served with sesame flatbread and a pecan-cheddar wafer. The most popular lunch is the Downtowne Delight. Chicken salad is served with your choice of side dish – molded cranberry-orange salad, garden salad, Greek pasta salad, artichoke rice, vegetable aspic or new potato salad.

Dreamland BBQ
(Restaurants - American)
3855 University Dr, Huntsville  35816 • 256-539-7427
Description: HUNTSVILLE. When the subject of Alabama legends comes up, Dreamland should no doubt be mentioned in the same breath as George Wallace, Bear Bryant, and Bo Jackson. Known far and wide for their sinfully delicious BBQ ribs, "Big Daddy" Bishop and crew took a simple concept (ribs, their signature sauce, and a few pieces of white Sunbeam bread) and, over the years, developed it into something that can only be described as down-home gourmet. Rustic decor, historic signs, and old photos decorate the walls, recreating the character of the original Jerusalem Heights location, but the food truly steals the show. As the saying goes, "Ain't nothing like' em nowhere!"
