DEEP ELLUM. The Curtain Club has established itself as one of the best "sounding" venues in the city. Both local and regional alternative rock bands love to play this room. It's not a big place, but the sound man knows acoustics. Usually three bands per night. The crowd is a mixed bag of young and old, but definitely music fans. Inwood Theatre Lounge |
(Nightlife - Lounge) |
5458 W Lovers Ln Inwood Theatre, Dallas 75209 214-764-9106 |
| |
Description:
WEST LOVERS LANE. The Inwood has seen its share of history over the years, from showcasing a 1947 screening of Red Skelton's "The Show-Off" to hosting a two-year run of "The Sound of Music." Today, the venue thrives on film festivals and foreign flicks, and its managing company has restored its classic murals, repaired its neon signage, and added leather seating. Perhaps its most singular perk, though, is a cool lobby martini bar – a great place to grab a drink before, after, and during (yes, drinks are allowed in the auditoriums) a film. |

Minc |
(Nightlife - Lounge) |
813 Exposition Ave, Dallas 75226 214-370-4077 |
| |
Description:
FAIR PARK. An air of exoticism sets Minc apart from other venues, courtesy of bamboo screens, sculpture, stone masks, and Asian lanterns. Despite its Zen trappings, the place regularly ripples with energy. On DJ nights, techno, reggae, and hip-hop provide background rhythms, and furnished spaces indoors and out create a comfortable place to party, mingle, or just relax. When guests seek a retreat from the edgy bar, chaises and futons in the adjoining room ably accommodate. The patio – which resembles a Japanese garden with its pond, fountain, and wicker meditation stools – offers another escape. While mixed drinks are a hit, you can also partake of a hookah for $10-20 for 45 minutes. |
