        Description: CENTER. This seven-mile stretch of the Missouri has been protected by the state so that it will remained untouched – primitive, even, – for future generations to enjoy. Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty here to their liking, whether they want to hike or bird watch, canoe or fish. Primitive campsites, electric sites, and log cabins are available for those planning for more than a one-day outing, and the park also offers cross-country skiing during the winter months.

        Description: PICK CITY. Easily North Dakota's largest body of water (and the third-largest manmade lake in the United States), Lake Sakakawea is more than 170 miles long and boasts an area of some 3680,000 acres. Ideal for any number of outdoor activities, the lake finds itself a-bustle with traffic during the summer months, when water skiers, pleasure boaters, and anglers shake the winter dust off their trusty crafts and head to the water. The State Park near Pick City offers picnic, camping, and boat-launching facilities as well as access to the North Country National Scenic Trail, which boasts excellent vistas of the lake and surrounding countryside.

        Description: BISMARCK. Nestled away some five miles east of the bustle of the capitol city, this local park offers Bismarck residents an excellent (and quick!) escape from their daily routines. Indeed, McDowell Dam is a place where folks can gather with the family and enjoy and day of paddle boating, canoeing, swimming, fishing, and even picnicking. Shelters are available for full- and half-day rentals.
