Bistro Louise
(Restaurants - American)
2900 S Hulen St Stonegate Commons, Fort Worth  76109 • 817-922-9244
Description: SOUTHWEST FORT WORTH. Although the cuisine defiantly bucks categorization (it's labeled Mediterranean, French and New American, alternately), this restaurant is simply one of the area's best. The Provençal interior features sunny yellow walls accented by pottery, oils, and watercolors. The creative menu lists superb dishes like foie gras, Colorado prime beef, pecan-fried chicken, baked Pacific salmon, soft-shell crabs, and sea scallops. Desserts, whether a cheese course or something more decadent, follow suit. The terrific wine list offers vintages by the glass and the bottle.

Classic Cafe
(Restaurants - American)
504 N Oak St, Roanoke  76262 • 817-430-8185
Description: ROANOKE. This inviting restaurant, which has a sister establishment in Southlake, has developed quite a following thanks to its great menu and ambience. The New American cuisine takes local ingredients and throws in global sophistication so that you're met by Asian-marinated chicken, grilled pork with tamarind-raisin chutney, and a medley of grilled meats and seafood served with a tangy sauce. Steaks and fresh fish also make appearances, and daily specials bring unanticipated pleasures. Salads are satisfying but light enough for those who crave smaller portions. You'll have to drive a bit to reach Classic Cafe, but the excellent cuisine is a just reward for your efforts.

Massey's Restaurant
(Restaurants - American)
1805 8th Ave, Fort Worth  76110 • 817-921-5582
Description: If you're in Texas, you'd better know about chicken-fried steak. Thankfully, Massey's not only understands it – they do it better than anyone else in the area. Along with the crowd-pleasing, comfort-food specialty, Massey's serves menu favorites like pot roast, meatloaf, and fried catfish. For more than 50 years, the place has treated guests to great home cooking, from fried okra and mashed potatoes to an addictive coconut meringue pie. Regulars also swear by the melt-in-your-mouth biscuits, which some call "little jewels." Massey's doesn't stand on pretense, just good food. Make sure you see what they're all about.

Description: This local chain serves up a little bit of bayou culture in a loud, fun atmosphere that taps into the energy of Sundance Square. Not everything's authentically Cajun, but what you'll find are hearty portions of good southern fare. Gumbo and jambalaya are rich and spicy, crammed full of good things, and crawfish etouffee offers a large portion of the delicate shellfish. Red beans and rice can also be found, along with zesty andouille sausage and savory pastas. Reata
(Restaurants - American)
310 Houston St Sundance Square, Fort Worth  76102 • 817-336-1009
Description: Forced to vacate its original home after a tornado struck the city, Reata operated a catering business for two years before settling into its dramatic new location. Now operating on three floors (one of which is a rooftop garden) of a venue in Sundance Square, Reata is reclaiming its status as one of FW's best restaurants. The cuisine still honors West Texas's cowboy heritage, just as the name pays tribute to the ranch in the movie "Giant." Culinary innovation remains strong as well, as does the characteristic Texas hospitality. Popular for business lunches. Attire is casual to semi-dressy. Texas and California vintages are available.
