Description:
HIAWATHA. Cedar Falls and Cedar Rapids are connected by this nature trail, built on an old railroad bed. Fifty-two scenic miles traverse farmlands, forests and quaint Iowa towns. Walking and biking are the most popular uses for the trail, but any non-motorized vehicles are allowed. Benches, chemical toilets and trash cans are stationed throughout the route. The northern portion of the trail is asphalt, and the southern half is faced with crushed limestone. All portions of the trail are suitable for wheelchairs. Leashed dogs are welcome. A permit is required for the southern 26 miles of the trail. |
