Description:
The Farmer's Market is a Galena staple. Vendors arrive early in the morning at the Old Market House and unload their farm-fresh wares, including fresh fruits and vegetables, jams, jellies, baked goods and plants. Shoppers then mingle and peruse the goods, sampling here and there and happily walking away with a jar of apple butter, a basket of seasonal fruit, or a hanging plant for the front porch. |

Description:
Head to Galena's Grant Park to celebrate the 4th by watching a great fireworks display. Bring a picnic snack and a blanket or chair to sit on. The best viewing area is on the river's west side. Note that the park is closed during the afternoon of the 4th in preparation for the fireworks and that the display begins at 9:30pm. Another Independence Day celebration to remember is the parade on Main Street, which features floats and marching bands. The parade is held at 5:30pm. |

The Elizabeth Community Fair takes place each year, usually in late July. The event brings with it the fun atmosphere of a traditional country fair complete with livestock shows, crafts for sale, live entertainment, carnival games and vendors selling everything from sunglasses to jewelry.
