The juried art show includes a variety of art themes and styles, and many works are available for purchase. |

Free and open to the public, Celebrate Erie is a three-day festival that showcases the art, food, merchants and music of this lakeside city. Local artists and artisans display their handiwork while area merchants set up shops in booths that run the length of State Street for eight blocks. DJs and live bands keep things upbeat, and area restaurants manage to keep hungry festival goers well-fed. Fireworks are part of the Saturday evening festivities. Parking is free, but be advised that many downtown streets are partially closed. |

In early December, the holidays come alive as the mayoral bell rings and officially opens the downtown's light and holiday decor display. Area merchants, businesses and government offices adorn their buildings with lights, garlands and other objects of Christmas cheer and kick off the season with a coordinated illumination. Strolling carolers, children's activities, horse-drawn carriage rides and a jolly St. Nick can all be found on the streets of downtown. |
