Brunswick / Golden Isles Factoid
The Sidney Lanier Bridge in Brunswick, named for the famous poet and native son, originally crossed Highway 17 at the South Brunswick River and was opened in 1956. In 2003, a new bridge with the same name was erected as the longest-spanning bridge in Georgia.
